INTERNATIONALITY IN MIKKELI UNVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (MAMK) is acknowledged as the prime international educator in the South Savo region. MAMK has created an extensive international network for all the fields of study it offers, which is a solid basis for student and staff exchanges and other forms of cooperation in Europe as well as in other continents. Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences is a respected partner and it has become an attractive workplace also for foreign students and experts. The internationalisation of MAMK is planned, implemented and evaluated under the leadership of the President of the organisation. This work is shared through out the institution so that the management board, the departments, the staff and the students are all involved. The main channels of international operation are study programmes (both in Finnish and in English), exchange programmes, International Summer Term, research and development, business services and cooperation within the partnership network. Rewarded by the Finnish Ministry of Education A convincing evidence of Mikkeli University of Applies Science’s level and commitment for internationalisation is the fact, that the Finnish Ministry of Education has rewarded MAMK five times for its international activities. High quality activities In all its activities MAMK pursues the highest possible quality. The Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council (FINHEEC) has carried an audit of the quality assurance system followed by Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences in 2006. According to the audit group, the quality assurance system of Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences is a result of persistent development work and covers the core functions units of the HEI. Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences meets the criteria set by FINHEC on quality assurance systems and the quality assurance of its basic task.
