Would you like to build a career in an international business environment? Are you interested in working in a job in marketing or financial services in a company operating across international frontiers?

In the Business Management degree programme students will develop a wide range of skills and knowledge relevant to modern business, with the flexibility to pursue their own interests. Students' international orientation is facilitated through a study period abroad, as well as by international lecturers and students in Mikkeli.

Objective of the Degree Programme

The objective of this degree programme in English is to coach students for administrative or expertise positions in international business or in the industrial sector. The degree programme familiarizes the students with international environment and provides them with good knowledge of entrepreneurship.

The degree programme in business management offers the students various options which enable students to plan their own career and participate in different development and research projects which are carried out in cooperation with working life.

Description of Profession

When students specialize in marketing, essential competence areas are sales and relationship management, advertising and promotion activities, productising and marketing of services, utilization of marketing research as well as strategic marketing. Possible positions for students after graduation include, for example marketing assistant, marketing manager and service manager.

Students who specialize in financial administration gain expertise on financing, accounting and reporting, as well as profitability and cost accounting. Possible positions for students after graduation include, for example accounting assistant, accounting consultant, financial manager and controller.

Students can also study administration, for example courses of human resources management, leadership and labour legislation. Possible positions for students after graduation include, for example personal assistant, project assistant and project manager.

Structure of the Studies

The degree programme consists of basic studies (50 ECTS), compulsory professional studies (50 ECTS), optional professional studies (50 ECTS), optional studies (15 ECTS), practical training (30 ECTS) and bachelor’s thesis (15 ECTS). Specialisation mainly takes place during studying abroad period. Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences offers over 50 partner institutions to choose from in the field of business!

Most of the optional professional studies are completed during a study period abroad. In addition, studetns have a possibility to take professional courses during the International Summer Term
